I realized the other day that I am surrounded with powerful people. They are the people who have survived tremendous pain in their lives. There are some that have overcome addictions or family members that suffer from them, but many have survived worse. This world is filled with obstacles for us to climb and get over. There is not a single person in this world that isn’t trying to climb over something high and tricky. We all need help and insight to get us to the top. I decided that it was important for me to ask a few of these inspiring people to share some of their insight. They are everyday people like you and me. Some have really cool careers like this week’s guest, but that isn’t what makes them “powerful” it is that they have found a way and are willing to share it. They are a light to others.
My brother has a brain injury. In his 59 years of life, he has had to create ways to support his family and himself. He has had to overcome his injury and be creative.
He was only in the 7th grade when his brain issue was discovered. He has had severe seizures and several brain surgeries that have added to his damage and now he is in full dementia.
My brother has no short or long term memory. He is bored. He has never been one to sit idle, but now that he can not remember what he is doing or how, he sits in front of a tv and does nothing but sink into depression. He doesn’t know why he is where he is and wants to do anything other than watch tv. Then he forgets what he wants to do. It is a horrible thing to watch and painful to know that he just wants to be productive.
What my brother needs is work. Continue reading Work Builds Self Worthby

This weekend I had the opportunity to listen to President Thomas S. Monson, during the October 2015, General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
President Monson gave a heartfelt and passionate speech about how we can become a light to the world. He explained the following ways we can let our light shine. Continue reading Be an Example and A Light To The Worldby
Did you ever notice that when something is weighing on you mind, answers, support and help are everywhere around you?
You may be saying “nope” right now, but I want you to really think about it.
Right now I am learning that everything that I learn, I will have an opportunity to share.
I take that in, say great, and put it aside as my life takes over.by
